Abba Fancy Dress Costumes

Abba Fancy Dress is now a big craze in any country that appreciates great music from the 70s and 80s, because Abba are synonymous with thinking of music of the 70s and early 80s along with all the fashions, styles and glamor that came with the 70s music scene.

That wonderful foursome Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid make up the initials that form their band name. And stopping for a moment to consider how great that is... seriously, how cool is it to have a band name that is a full and complete representation of the members in such a simple and unique way. Naming a band pah - how about having a name that is made up from the name or initials of all the band members? That is pretty neat stuff! Not only that, they were a pair of married couples too when they originally started too. Pretty mindblowing stuff. How many bands have featured two married couples in them? There's a trivia question that someone can answer below if they can name some other bands.

But anyway back to the band themselves. So for the masses, the first that Abba were heard from was in the early 1970s. The band themselves formed in 1972 in the band's native Sweden and they spent a decade topping charts worldwide. Even today if you are in one of those countries there is a good chance that 1 in 5 of every person that you know will have heard of Abba, particularly of course if they are of the generation before you.

While the band may have long split - fast approaching 30 years to that retirement year of 1983, the legacy that they created is so strong that constantly they are being featured in the charts. And in 2005 MAdonna even used a sample of their song Gimme Gimme Gimme in her song "Hung up." That must have been an interesting refresher and reminder and dare-say even shock to anyone to hear a variation on Abba's music. So it is no wonder that many people choose to go to fancy dress parties, especially 70s themed fancy dress parties in Abba Fancy Dress costumes.

It can be a little difficult looking for Abba Fancy Dress Costumes though as for some reason, despite the band being massive, and despite the release of the Mamma Mia movie musical based on the Mamma Mia musical that debuted in London, UK's West End theatre district in 1999 and still plays in London's West End today as well as now playing in theatre's worldwide both as a mainstay and as a touring production. So who knows why costume designers do not think Abba fancy dress costumes are relevant. People love going retro, so it really does not make much sense that many retailers are not recognizing a need for Abba outfits, but there you are.

Fortunately, some manufacturer's do make replica Abba costumes. Some may design Abba replicas but not name them as Abba outfits. Although that said, if you have been an ardent fan or have recently watched some of their recent music videos, or glanced at their promo artwork, you may be able to recognise some of these. In any case, you could make do with a 70s costume and concentrate on getting the facial appearance correct - perhaps enhanced with a wig, so that people know which Abba member you are intending to represent.
